Description of Tool: Wordle is a tool for generate "word clouds." A word cloud is a visual representation of words, giving greater prominence to words that occur more frequently by making them larger.
How does tool apply to your curricular area? It would allow for a compilation of student ideas. For example, students might do a word association activity with a character in a particular novel. The teacher could then create a Wordle using each students' character descriptions. Students could also provide a character description for each chapter and then create a Wordle for each one, evaluating how the character changes.
